Case Study 1: Secure connectivity for Zenith Bank plc

Zenith-Bank
We helped Zenith Bank plc to bring world-class, reliable connectivity to their customers and between branches.

In a competitive market like Nigeria, banks have to be able to offer their customers the latest products and services. By investing strongly in its people, processes and systems, Zenith Bank has become one of the largest and most profitable banks in Nigeria. It is also one of five Nigerian banks to be rated by The Banker Magazine among the top 500 in the world in terms of brand value.Zenith Bank’s objective was to continue to improve this rating in line with its vision of building a top, reputable, international financial services network, recognised for innovation and performance.

However, they faced serious network connectivity issues between their head offices and their remote networks. With our Pan-African footprint and strong Nigerian presence, our solution was to implement our AfricaConnect highspeed broadband service, which provides premium VSAT connectivity in over 60 sites including Ghana and Sierra Leone. This has significantly reduced downtime, network link unavailability and failure.

Zenith Bank customers now have access to real-time online banking and Zenith Bank’s customer base has increased tremendously, while our services have provided a reliable and cost-effective solution which has reduced their expenditure on network and communications.

“Zenith Bank has well and truly arrived on the global stage as a top bank and ever-growing African business. We need connectivity solutions that are second-to-none. Vodacom Business gives us secure and reliable networking between our offices, wherever they may be.”

Chuks Okoh: CIO of Zenith Bank plc.

Our total communications solutions helped one of Nigeria’s most loved brands to increase their operational efficiency.

Africa is home to some of the fastest-growing manufacturing and service industries in the world. To achieve their full potential in fast-moving markets, forward-thinking African companies rely on Vodacom Business to deliver secure, reliable and high quality connectivity.

The Promasidor Group operates in 26 African countries, supplying quality food products including well-known brands such as Top Tea, Onga, Loya and Miksi.

Promasidor Nigeria has achieved tremendous growth since it was founded 1993. Sales have increased from 800 000 cases of products per month in 2007 to 1.2 million cases per month in 2009.

A rapidly expanding business generates ever increasing sales data and product information for numerous brands. To continue their growth curve, Promasidor required a high quality and reliable data connectivity service between its office in Nigeria, the South African HQ and its other regional offi ces across Africa.

Vodacom Business was awarded the contract to supply dedicated and reliable high speed Internet access for email and other communication, such as Skype, file sharing between departments and locations, and an ERP platform that operates 24/7.

For Promasidor, having a reliable and secure Internet connection has enabled the company to deliver total communications, sharing information and processing data across the business. Promasidor is now planning to connect two up-country sites, Kano and Onitsha.

“Any business relies on effective communications to exchange business critical information and data that is needed in real-time to make fi nancial and operational decisions. Vodacom Business’s connectivity solutions have allowed us to send and receive information from HQ instantly, improving the effectiveness of our business on the ground. Over the last four years we have been able to make improvements in the running of the company, enabling us to deliver more value to our customers and shareholders.”

Case Study 4: A consistent track record for Deutsche Post DHL

dhl
Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL) is the world’s largest logistics group. In order to improve tracking capabilities for its deliveries their staff required quicker and easier access to DPDHL’s data centres in Czech Republic and Malaysia.

To begin with, we worked closely with DPDHL to understand their fixed-data network requirements for the Express, Global Forwarding & Freight, and Supply Chain Business Units.

Our solution was to provide a fully managed MPLS network in 67 countries, connecting over 400 sites across Eastern Europe, Middle-East and Africa. Not only does it provide a resilient and flexible telecoms service to support their growth and deliver greater cost efficiencies, it also offers DPDHL a platform on which to transform and optimise its converged IT services.

“With this MPLS solution DPDHL has access to streamlined and reliable telecoms services to improve both productivity and performance. It will help us to deliver on these points by giving us a fully managed and converged next-generation network solution that greatly enhances service reliability and performance while effectively reducing costs.”
